American Idol Auditions

American Idol Auditions

With new auditions for American Idol being held in Seattle next month, a lot of my friends around here are thinking about whether or not they have a chance. It is amazing how many people have secret dreams of making it big. Although American Idol auditions might seem like sort of a long shot, there is still nothing to lose. My friend Kara – a local singer-songwriter – figures that the best thing to do is to simply treat it as another tryout. Even if Simon is cruel and the audition goes poorly, it will not mean the end of her career. And if, on the other hand, she makes it on to the show, it could be quite a big break. When you get down to it, there is no way to know until you give it a try.

I would not have gone out for American Idol auditions myself if not for the fact that I have had a lot of music auditions before, and even a few gigs. You see, an American Idol audition is probably one of the most stressful tryouts that you could have. You audition on a nationally-televised program in front of some pretty tough judges. Just a normal audition is hard enough, but this kind of tryout is positively nerve-wracking.

One of the best things that you can do to prepare yourself for American Idol auditions is to do some trial run throughs yourself. Watch some auditions for American Idol on the Internet, or take them out of your local video store. Then, once you get an idea about what is involved, you will be able to try it out yourself. It might sound kind of silly to pretend you are going out for an audition in front of judges who aren't actually there, but it really is going to help you.

If you are a talented performer, do not build up the American Idol auditions to more than they really are. There are many other shows, musicals, and plays to try out for, and being on American Idol is far from the only way to get a career going in the showbiz industry. Give it your best, but do not make that big a deal out of it. Most importantly, don't ever let anyone discourage you from giving it your very best. If you think you are good enough, what other people think should not matter at all.
